Why is the ASUS Eee Pc Good?

Saturday, June 28, 2008 ·

ASUS Eee pc was designed in 2007 by ASUS and Intel. The word "Eee" is an advertising slogan for this machine which stands for "the three Es" which means "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play". ASUS Eee PC is not a big Personal Computer but rather it is a subnotebook. Subnotebooks are small and lightweight portable computers with most of the features of a standard laptop, but smaller. The price of Asus Eee pc was listed around only $199 USD which is why many people were anxiously waiting for the launch date.

- How do I know which model is better?

Nowadays, ASUS uses EeePc 8G, 4G, 4G Surf and 2G Surf as the names for the various models available. That makes it easier for customers to understand what product they are looking for.

For example, if you were to visit a computer shop or shopping website you might see the name of product like below.

"Asus Eee PC 4G (73 Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded)"

4G indicates that the size of Hard Drive is 4GB.

Linux Preloaded indicates that it uses Linux for the OS.

"Asus Eee PC 2G Surf (73 Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Galaxy Black"

2G indicates that the size of Hard Drive is 2GB.

Linux Preloaded indicates that it uses Linux for the OS.

- Why is the ASUS Eee pc good?

Because of the price which is affordable, and the high quality software that is bundled with it. The price of the ASUS Eee pc costs less than half when compared with a laptop. That is why ASUS Eee pc is good.

- What does not come with the ASUS Eee PC?

The ASUS Eee PC does not come with a DVD/RW, but any external USB unit can be used. That helps this machine stay lightweight.

- What kind of work is it appropriate for?

The ASUS Eee PC is appropriate for everybody who is looking for an affordable laptop. Even for kids it can be the first step for them in learning. Being only 7 inches wide makes it great for portability.

- What programs are bundled?

As you know ASUS Eee pc use Linux for the OS, which makes this machine much faster than Window XP. Eee PC runs a custom tab-based interface and uses IceWM as the default window manager. They also included OpenOffice.org (except Draw), Mozilla Firefox, Skype, Tux Paint,, E-mail, a Wikipedia look-up tool, Google Doc,Internet radio applications, and many types of software for entertainment and education.

- Can I replace Linux with Window XP?

ASUS Eee pc comes shipped with Linux, but also with some very simple instructions for replacing Linux with Windows/XP if you have a licensed copy Windows available to install. However, ASUS announced on October 16, 2007 that a future version of the Eee will be sold with Windows XP. Microsoft agreed to lower the price of Windows for Eee PC users to under US$40. We are waiting that day, aren't we?

- Are there any disadvantages?

Yes, there are. The screen is a 800×480 resolution, an odd size. It can be set to 800×600, but that requires some auto-scrolling to get to the top and bottom of the screen. All in all the 800×480 resolution isn't bad, though. There are also no Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock indicators. However there is an excellent freeware utility available on the Web that places indicator lights in the system tray, which may take some time getting used to.

Asus AiGuru S1 VoIP Skype handset reviewed
While this may not match your speedy new Lamborghini notebook, the Asus AiGuru S1 handset should make your VoIP calling a bit easier -- while you're on the PC, at least. This Skype-friendly wireless handset resembles a Nokia candybar phone circa 2000, but touts the ability to connect via 802.11b/g to make calls. Unfortunately, that excitement was quickly put back on the shelf, as reviewers noted that it only connects via a computer with "customized software" installed (thoughtfully included on a USB wireless adapter), thus eliminating the thought of hitting up a VoIP call whenever near a stray WiFi signal. The 128 x 64 blue LCD was said to be "responsive" to commands, and the 2.5 hours of talk time should be plenty for all but the lengthiest chats. It was noted that the built-in voicemail was a tad buggy initially, but eventually worked itself out, and the most important praise came from the "perfect audio quality" when yapping over Skype. As somewhat of an afterthought, the phone does have an audio output for streaming tunes via Windows Media Center to your headphones or attached speakers, but we doubt your VoIP handset will become your favorite musical liaison anytime soon. The AiGuru S1 performed well enough to earn 8 out of 10 golden stars, but considering that you still need a (powered up) PC to use this thing, £69.99 ($132) seems a bit steep to get your VoIP on

Easy-to-Use and Do-it-All

The screen displays incoming calls, phonebook, call history and a wide range of functions just like on your mobile phone.
Call waiting and mute functions give you full control.
Speaker phone is available for easy conference calls.

Anywhere Music
The AiGuru S1 lets you wirelessly control PC Windows Media Player to create favorite song lists, then blast tunes through its high-quality speaker for music enjoyment anywhere.

Mitsubishi LT-46133 46" 1080p High Definition LCD Television

Saturday, June 7, 2008 ·

Mitsubishi overhauled their entire line of flat-panel HDTVs, inside and out. Even the entry-level "133-series" models boast the super-sleek thin-frame cabinet, with hidden speakers and a platinum black finish. The 46" LT-46133 is so compact it fits in the same space as a typical 42" model. An upgraded LCD panel and video processing deliver breathtaking picture quality.

Full-time 1080p clarity

The screen's 1920 x 1080-pixel design provides the highest HD resolution available — over two million pixels of crystalline clarity. Most high-definition programs are in 1080i format, and to see all of the details in a 1080i signal, you need a 1080p display. Mitsubishi's Plush1080p® video processing upconverts lower-resolution signals to 1080p, so you'll enjoy maximum picture detail on all video sources.

Color without compromise

Mitsubishi's rear-projection TVs have earned a reputation for rich, vivid, accurate color, and that's evident in their flat-panel models, too. The LT-46133's Full Spectrum Color™ system includes wide-range backlight technology for a 25% gain in color range compared to standard LCDs. The PerfectColor color management system provides advanced color processing and adjustment.

Plenty of HD viewing options

The LT-46133 has built-in tuners for receiving your local digital and analog over-the-air broadcasts (antenna required). Plus, a "QAM" cable TV tuner lets cable subscribers watch unscrambled channels without a set-top box — including HD channels in many areas. The future-ready "jack pack" sports a trio of 1080p-compatible HDMI inputs for connecting the latest high-definition disc players, HD DVRs, and video game consoles. For added versatility, there's a side component video input for easy hookup of an HD camcorder, plus a USB port for viewing digital photos.

Apple iPhone India Launch in September via Vodafone?

Friday, June 6, 2008 ·

The iPhone’s entry in India has been spoken about since long. And here is yet another - a speculation, a reality or just yet another run-on-the-mill story, you can make your choice!
When the Apple iPhone initially rolled out in June last year, many countries, including
India, were said to be next in line to receive the official launch of the highly-anticipated next generation phone.
News about the iPhone’s launch in India is now doing the rounds of the internet. The news states that the iPhone will be out by the first week of September exclusively through Vodafone. The 8GB version of the mu
ch-awaited and hyped touch-screen phone might roll out in the country for a price ranging between Rs 27,200 and Rs 28,000.
Depending on the response of the 8GB iPhone, 16GB version of the handset would be made available in mid-2009. This news gained momentum due to Apple retail sources, which apparently stated that the iPhone is expected to launch in India through carrier Vodafone sometime in the first week of September 2008, according to a leading business daily.
When we got in touch with Apple Asia, the reply that we got was “Apple does not comment on rumors or speculation.” Well if the iPhone officially launches in India, the illegal purchasing of the grey market unlocked version will reduce. However, the case might even get opposite as the locked version is expected to sell for 27,000, whereas the unlocked iPhone comes under Rs. 20,000.
